👋 Good morning, Chicopee!

In today's ChicoPeople:

  • Chicopee threw a big America's 250th bash at Szot Park

  • A charity Jeep convoy rumbled out of Metro

  • The (quieter) lineup of city happenings this week

Let's get to it.

📰 Last Week in Chicopee

The city packed the Szot Park field on Friday for America's 250th, with live music, food trucks, craft vendors, and family activities, and the celebration carried into the weekend with fireworks over Szot. Nice touch: the city handed out commemorative Chicopee 250th coins to anyone who donated peanut butter and jelly for local food pantries.

On Saturday, the Children's Miracle Jeep Kruze lined up at Metro of Chicopee and rumbled out around noon. Riders raised money for kids through Unbroken Wings and the Children's Miracle Network, proving a parking lot full of Jeeps can absolutely be a force for good.

With the World Cup drawing crowds, Rumbleseat Bar & Grille got the green light to serve until 3 a.m. on select nights through the end of July. Owner Billy Stetson says soccer fans have boosted business 10 to 20 percent a day. Turns out Chicopee really, really loves the beautiful game.
